Self-hosted vs. cloud

Determine whether you want to self-host or use the cloud version of Investbrain.

Self-hosted

You can self-host Investbrain on your own infrastructure for convenience and piece-of-mind. We recommend self-hosting to anyone that feels comfortable using Docker. While it’s not difficult to get started self-hosting for most, it can be inconvenient for some. Self-hosting offers you:

  • Use of Investbrain CLI commands to manage your holdings

  • Direct database-level management of your investments

  • Choice of Large Language Model (LLM) to “chat with your holdings“

  • Control over which market data providers to use

For those unable or unwilling to “invest” the time to self-host, we offer a cloud-hosted version!

Cloud-hosted

Investbrain also offers a cloud-hosted version with all the same features as the self-hosted version. The only difference is that the cloud-hosted version is pre-configured to help you get started quickly! Here’s what the cloud-hosted version offers:

  • Managed infrastructure and upgrades

  • Pre-built integration with OpenAI to “chat with your holdings”

  • Sync with live market data from reliable market data providers

  • Robust privacy and security protections
